What is SkyExplorer?
SkyExplorer is a real-world exploration game where you fly across a live map, discover locations, complete scavenger hunts, capture snapshots, and save your adventures.
Do I need a separate account to use the app?
No. Your apple account is tied to your purchase, and that is all that is required to sync your lists and snapshots across devices, nothing else needed! Like Steve said, “It just works”
How does SkyExplorer use my location and private information?
SkyExplorer only uses your current GPS location to track the avatar with your current location in game. We have designed Sky Explorer with user privacy in mind. We do not store any location information, nor do we share, transmit or sell any customer data to third parties or advertisers.
Can I search for places?
Yes. Search for landmarks, addresses, or points of interest, then fly directly to them through the map experience.
Is the app easy to play?
Yes. The main experience is designed around simple flight controls, an uncluttered map, and quick access to search, snapshots, settings, and hunt tools.
Scavenger Hunts And Gameplay
What game modes are available?
SkyExplorer supports Free Play, Timer, and Countdown modes, with optional geo-fencing for focused challenges.
What kinds of scavenger hunts are included?
SkyExplorer includes a library of scavenger hunts across a range of categories to start explorers off.
Can I create my own scavenger hunts?
Yes. You can create as many scavenger hunts as you want, each with their own objectives, titles, icons, and categories.
How are objectives completed?
During a hunt, you fly to a target location, drop a pin and take a snapshot. The snapshot marks the current objective as found and moves you to the next objective on the list.
Are there leaderboards?
Yes. Timer and Countdown hunts can record scores so players can compare their runs and compete for better times.
Captures, Pins, And Sharing
Can I save photos from the app?
Yes. You can capture snapshots, review them, annotate directly in-app, then save or share them
Can I record gameplay?
Yes. SkyExplorer supports 30 second full-resolution gameplay recordings with an in-game recording HUD and video preview.
What are pin lists?
Pin lists let you save, organize, revisit, and explore locations you discover while flying.
Can I share hunts or pin lists?
Yes. SkyExplorer supports sharing and importing hunt lists, pin lists, and saved hunt packages.
Does SkyExplorer work with Apple Watch or widgets?
The app includes an Apple Watch app that allows users to capture their current location and even send it with just a few taps without an iPhone at all.
The iOS app icon can also be converted to a widget that allows non-watch users to capture and send their location with the same ease.
